meer informatie over Waylon’s theatertour 2012-2013

Natuurlijk kennen we Waylon onder meer van de cover van Johnny Cash bij DWDD, de aanleiding tot de Recordings van dat tv-programma.

Waylon en zijn band zullen op die manier, dus unplugged en op geheel eigen wijze, het theaterpubliek komend seizoen een muzikaal avontuur aanbieden.

Zijn eerste succesvolle theatershow (2010) ging over de muziek die hem inspireerde en de dromen die een jonge artiest najaagt op weg naar zijn grote doorbraak.

In de nieuwe serie zal Waylon juist laten zien waar zijn muziek naar toe gaat en welke nieuwe inzichten het succes hem gebracht hebben.

En er gebeurt veel met Waylon. Zijn platina debuutalbum ‘Wicked Ways’ (2009) en opvolger ‘After All’ (eind 2011)zijn van internationaal niveau, zijn club- en theatertours verkopen uit,

zijn vele festivaloptredens zijn altijd sensationeel en hij is een graag geziene gast in uiteenlopende radio- en tv-programma’s.

Maar al dat succes heeft ook een schaduwkant: roem. ‘Muziek maken is mijn werk en dat neem ik serieus, maar bekend zijn, dat is geen werk.

Daar kun je niet voor leren, daar heb je je maar aan over te geven’, zegt Waylon. ‘De rode draad in ‘Unplugged & Unreal’ is het omgaan met succes en roem.

Voorkeursbehandelingen, ego strelende situaties, ik heb er niets mee. Ik doe dit niet om in de bladen te staan of mensen gillend achter me aan te krijgen, want dat heeft niks te maken t muziek.’

En muziek maken, dáár gaat het juist om. Waylon en zijn band gaan zich daar tijdens ‘Unplugged & Unreal’ dan ook volledig aan over geven.

‘Als je door de muziek meegevoerd wordt, is het immers moeilijk stoppen.’ Zijn meest dierbare songs van de twee albums krijgen speciaal voor deze tournee een verrassend nieuw jasje aangemeten.

En, natuurlijk geeft Waylon daarbij een duidelijke mening over zichzelf en het leven…

Waylon neemt single op met Lionel Richie

Waylon heeft een duet opgenomen met niemand minder dan superster Lionel Richie. De hit ‘You Are’ werd opnieuw door beide heren, die allebei getekend zijn bij het fameuze Motown-label, ingezongen en is sinds deze week verkrijgbaar als single.


Het duet zal worden toegevoegd aan Richie’s laatste album ‘Tuskegee’, dat in de Verenigde Staten alle verkooprecords brak. Hierop gaat de Amerikaanse superster terug naar zijn geboortestad, waar hij zijn eerste muzikale invloeden opdeed uit gospel, R&B en country.

 “I was born and raised in Tuskegee, Alabama. I am a country boy and proud of it. To do this project just felt natural”, aldus Richie. Waylon deelt Lionel’s liefde voor countrymuziek.


Het resultaat van deze bijzondere samenwerking zal ook live te horen zijn, want de 32-jarige Waylon staat op zaterdag 6 oktober samen met Lionel op het podium van de Ziggo Dome, als onderdeel van de ‘Tuskegee Tour’ van de Amerikaanse zanger.

‘Tuskegee – The Dutch Edition’ verschijnt op vrijdag 28 september.

Waylon wins 3FM Best Singer Award!

‘I really hadn’t expected this, I swear’, a flabbergasted Waylon uttered, right after winning the most prestigious 3FM Best Male Vocalist Award. He was completely overwhelmed, not in the least because he was up against very stiff competition: Waylon edged out superstars Guus Meeuwis, Tim Knol, Marco Borsato and Alain Clark. No wonder he was bowled over completely when the crowd in the Gashouder in Amsterdam erupted in cheers and applause when Waylon’s victory was announced.

After he regained his composure, Waylon thanked his vocal coaches. A very sympathetic gesture, as these unsung heroes who keep de star’s vocal chords in tip top shape seldom get their moment in the spotlights. And of course Waylon expressed his gratitude to his fans and all the listeners to 3FM who voted for him. The 3FM Awards are truly the people’s choice and thus the best measure of appreciation an artist can wish for. One thing for sure: at this very moment Waylon is the happiest man in the world!

Waylon up for Sunday Sessions!

Waylon nominated for a 3FM Award!

And once again Waylon is nominated for a 3FM Award! It seems like ever since he burst onto the music scene back in 2009, this is a yearly occurrence, and it is something that Waylon is very, very proud of. This year he is nominated for this most prestigious award in the category ‘Best Male Vocalist’. And you can make sure he gets it! Waylon does Concert at SEA!

Waylon will perform at the Concert at SEA 2012. This two day popfestival in Brouwersdam, Zeeland will take place on Friday June 29th and Saturday the 30th. The Concert at SEA is organized bij Dutch rockband Bløf, and of course they will perform both days;...

on Friday they’ll play cover songs, and the next day they’ll do a set of their own songs. On the Friday they’ll be joined by Acda en de Munnik, VanValzen and Golden Earring, and the next day by Ilse DeLange, De Dijk, The Baseballs, Go Back To The Zoo and… Waylon! Waylon’s busy start of the year

Waylon is experiencing an incredibly busy start of the new year. Not only will he perform seven nights at ‘de Vrienden van Amstel LIVE!’ in a sold-out Ahoy, he’ll also continue his Lucky Night Tour. Waylon and his fabulous band will blow the roof off of Het Park in Hoorn on Friday 6 January, followed by Metropool in Hengelo the next day and Apollo in Emmen on Thursday 12 January.

Don’t miss these shows, because due to many national and international obligations Waylon isn't a lot on stage in Februari and March. But don't panic there are still a few tickets left for the shows in Hoorn, Hengelo and Emmen, so check our Live page! Coming days a couple of new shows will be aded to the tour schedule. Waylon is also going to choose a new single as the follow-up to his hit ‘Lucky Night’, so he’ll let us know which song he picked in a couple of weeks.

Waylon donates Harley-Davidson to Serious Request!

It was an impressive sight when Waylon roared into the Glazen Huis on his shiny new Harley-Davidson ‘Fourty-Eight’ motor cycle for his little sleep-over. On www.harley-davidson.com you can read that this city bike with its fat front tire and peanut shaped steel gas tank is made to drive through every kind of terrain, and the audience on the Beestenmarkt in Leiden know all about that now: motorcycle man Waylon came to visit and nearly blew the windows out of the Glazen Huis! On Saturday December 24th Waylon will also perform on the big stage outside the Glazen Huis. Don’t be surprised if he motors straight onto the stage on his gleaming machine. And the most beautiful thing about it is the fact that Waylon is going to auction off his bike for Serious Request! Yep,  in corporation with Harley Davidson he’s going to give away the 12.195,00 euro superbike in order to raise as much money as possible for the charity. So tune into 3FM or hurry on down to Leiden and place your bid on Waylon’s very own Harley-Davidson!!!

Het was een indrukwekkend gezicht zoals Waylon daar kwam aangescheurd op een splinternieuwe Harley-Davidson ‘Fourty-Eight’ motor, regelrecht bij het Glazen Huis naar binnen. Op www.harley-davidson.com staat dat deze vette stadsbike met zijn dikke voorband en stalen peannuttank geschikt is om door elke omgeving te scheuren en dat hebben ze geweten daar op de Beestenmarkt in Leiden: Waylon kwam een nachtje logeren en de Glazen rinkelden bijna uit de sponningen van het Huis! Zaterdag 24 december gaat Waylon er ook optreden, en je moet niet gek opkijken als hij met zijn vette Harley het podium op komt scheuren. En het mooiste is nog, dat Waylon de motor in samenwerking met Harley Davidson doneert aan Serious Request. Jawel, hij gaat deze superbike van 12.195,00 euro veilen voor het goede doel. Stem dus af op 3FM of haast je naar het Glazen Huis in Leiden, tast zo diep mogelijk in de buidel en biedt mee op Waylons eigen Harley-Davidson!!!

Waylon has an unbelievable auction item for Serious Request!

When sleeping over at 3FM’s Glazen Huis, the guest is supposed to bring an item that’ll be up for auction for the Serious Request charity. Two years ago Waylon raised a lot of money by shaving his head while staying at the Glazen Huis. That was spectacular, but this year Waylon has something on offer that surpasses that – by far. He’ll auction off an item that is so shiny and beautiful, that it will simply blow your mind.. Wanna know what it is? Check this website 3FM and be amazed, no, perplexed!!!

Als je een nachtje blijft slapen in 3FM’s Glazen Huis, hoor je een veiling item mee te nemen. Twee jaar geleden haalde Waylon een bak geld op voor Serious Request door tijdens zijn logeerpartijtje zijn haar af te scheren. Dat was al opzienbarend, maar dit jaar heeft Waylon een nog veel spectaculairder item dat hij ter veiling aan gaat bieden. Een glimmend,  supergaaf item, dat hij aanstaande vrijdag 23 december mee zal nemen naar het Glazen Huis. Wat het is? Hou deze website en 3FM in de gaten en laat je verrassen, nee, verbijsteren!!!

Waylon staying at the Glass House!

This year radio station 3FM’s ‘Glazen Huis’ (Glass House) will again be a highly exciting media happening. And rightfully so, because this is the only way to get the maximum amount of donations possible for the Red Cross – the beneficiary of this yearly event. ‘Het Glazen Huis’ will be situated at De Beestenmarkt, a square in the city of Leiden.

Two years ago Waylon stayed over one night and shocked everybody by shaving his head. This time he’ll stay overnight on the last day of this action-packed week, in support of the three DJ’s who’ve stayed there all that time. The next day it’ll be a short walk to work, because Waylon will perform at the closing concert , together with Racoon, Armin van Buuren, Di-Rect and Guus Meeuwis! So please support 3FM’s Serious Request by requesting a song, and come to Leiden on December 24th to close the ‘Glazen Huis’ week with a hard rocking show by Waylon and his colleagues!
